Columbus Airport to Mitigate Wetland in Big
Walnut Watershed
Wetland construction for mitigation of a wetland at
Columbus International Airport began at the Columbus Academy
in Gahanna, Ohio the week of May 1, 2006. Installation of wetland
plants will begin on May 19, 2006.(See schedule below).
Delivery of the wetland plants was made on Thursday, May
18,2006.
Vinnie Tremante of Williams Creek Environmental Consultants and
Bill Resch are going to arrive at 8am Friday, May 19th to prepare
for the Academy Students and Teachers who will arrive around 9am.
Academy staff are having a cook out for them on site for lunch
around noon and then work more in the afternoon with the students
until 2:30pm.
PLANTING PLANS FOR NEXT WEEK ARE:
Monday 3:30pm- 7pm will be the New Albany Middle
School Adventure Club - Mrs Willmore
Tuesday will be the Gahanna Middle Schools
Friends of Rocky Fork - Mr. Zamora
Wednesday will be New Albany High School
Environmental Science - Mr. Somerlot
and the Northeast Home School & More with Mrs
Kempker
Thursday - Possibly students from Capital
University via Kurt Keljo
and member of the Friends of the Big Walnut & Tribs and
Airport/Gahanna staff at any of the above days.
